Frequently Asked Questions

The app didn't show up on my Watch

Open the Watch app on your iPhone and look for BarbellKinetics in the list of available apps. Install it from there. You may be prompted to accept the download on the Watch itself.

Why does the Watch ask for HealthKit access?

BarbellKinetics uses HealthKit to start a workout session that keeps the app active in the background during your lift. No health data is collected or stored by the app.

What is "select weight" on the Watch?

You can set the barbell weight you're lifting. This isn't used for path calculation — it's there for volume tracking. You can also change it on the iPhone.

My snatch wasn't detected or the rep count was wrong

The most likely reason is that pull acceleration wasn't sustained or high enough to trigger detection. At lighter weights the pull may not produce the signature force profile that BarbellKinetics looks for. Focus on an aggressive extension. If the problem persists, email us with details about the weight and lift type.

Which models are supported?

BarbellKinetics is compatible with Apple Watch Series 6 (2020) or newer, paired with iPhone 11 or newer. Both devices need to be running the latest software.

Where is my data stored?

All data stays on your devices. Session data is stored locally on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded to any server or cloud service. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I delete a session?

In the session list on your iPhone, swipe left on any session to delete it. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data.
